A Special Good-bye
Lorrie Arianna Dispenza
In the summer of 1991 I had a dream about my grandmother.
We were very close and for 15 years previous she had been sick with angina. This made grandma very tired. She was in and out of the hospital from 1977 - 1991 with heart attacks or attacks of angina.
It was a summer night and I had the following dream: Grandma was sitting on the couch in her living room. She looked radiantly healthy with her silver white hair freshly permed and shimmering. I was sitting beside her and she took my hand and looked into my eyes.
"Lorrie, it's time for me to go, you will be alright. Take care of your grandfather, be kind to your father and don't take any shit from your Aunt. I love you and will aways be with you."
Three days later she died peacefully in her sleep in a local hospital. I was the only one at peace. It was a shock for the rest of the family because we'd all been through so many hospitalizations and she didn't look bad this last time.
I think she was tired and her spirit visited me to comfort and reassure me. It was truly a wonderful experience. I was the only one in the family who truly got to say goodby. I feel her presence occasionally. Especially when I am in need of energy. Before she had gotten sick, you could eat off of her kitchen floor!
Wherever grandma is I'm sure she's doing well.
