Disette 2002I think my dog was an Angel. Am I crazy? She lived with me for fourteen years, loved me for fourteen years, an unconditional love that you don't get from a person. Her name was Disette, as in a Dice Set. Have you guessed that she was a Dalmation?
Disee was there for me through my divorce, raising the kids on my own, sitting with me in my lonely hours when everybody had a life except me, heck she even slept with me. I finally met a wonderful man who spoiled my dog more than me. In later years Disee developed paralysis in her back legs and had to be airlifted around the house and outside by a weightlifters belt. Yes, she deserved to be cared for, she had given so much to me, now it was my turn.
Just a month ago after a severe urinary infection caused by immobility, I decided to have Disette put to sleep. This was the hardest thing I ever have had to do in my life. The vet did it in our back yard under the big ash tree. Disee slipped away while in our arms. We were a mess. Neither one of us could go to work for two days. I finally realized that Disette was there for me throughout the most trying years of my life, and once I found happiness she decided it was time to let go.
