Monarch Butterfly

I've just been reading through some of the stories you've all written. I'm inspired to share mine.

Just over three years ago my mother died after suffering for a year with lung cancer. It was February 1999. That December was our first Christmas without her. I had just graduated from university and was downstairs in the basement frantically cleaning and organizing for the holidays. I noticed what appeared to be a butterfly cocoon in the upper right corner of a doorway. I didn't bother to remove it, just incase it was a cocoon. I forgot about it until Christmas Eve when I had to go downstairs again to get something. When I turned on the light, I saw a monarch butterfly perched on the floor. I immediately thought of my mother and new this was a sign from her telling us that she was with us. The butterfly lived for three days. It was beautiful.
