Angel In The Grocery StoreMy wife has had MS for 30 years and is a total quadraplegic. In recent months, she has developed pressure sores and requires 24-7 care from me. Her mind comes and goes and she can be very difficult.
Last week, I found myself very near some sort of mental and physical breakdown. Then I got a call from my son saying that his doctors were testing him for lieukemia. He was terrified and so was I.
I spent 3 nights praying to Jesus and Mary for relief. One morning, my wife was particularly troublesome, refused to eat and cried for 2 hours. I finally fed her and changed her bandages, but I was literally shaking.
I had to go to the grocery store. When I entered the store, I saw a handsome, young black man walking across the front. He was about 6'2", 180 lbs, athletic, very short hair. He was very well dressed in khaki slacks and a preppy short sleeved button down shirt. He did not have a shopping cart and didn't seem to be interested in buying anything.
I only needed a few items, so I finished shopping quickly and headed to the front. The young black man came up behind me and passed me on my right. He paid no attention as he passed by , but when he got about 25 feet in front of me, he suddenly whirled and came back. He was smiling and said, Sir?" I replied, "Yes?"
He put his hand on my shoulder, still smiling and said, "Jesus told me to tell you that he loves you. Do you believe me?"
I was so stunned I could only nod. He said, "What I am telling you is real. I want to hear you say that you believe me." He had the kindest yet most powerful eyes. I said, "Yes, I believe you."
He said, "Good. Now I don't know exactly what your troubles and burdens are, but He does, and he wants me to tell you that everything is going to be just fine. Do you believe that?" I told him that I did.
He put his arm around my shoulder and said, "I am going to leave you now, but just know that you are going to be just fine." He walked out the front of the store. He had no groceries.
I checked out hurriedly. I felt that something was going to happen to me. I didn't know what. I got in my car and shut the door. With no warning, I suddenly exploded from the inside. Tears came in a river. My body made sounds and wails I had never heard. It felt like all my fears, frustrations and dreads came pouring out.
Two days later, my son's reports came back negative. The healthcare nurse was amazed at the improvement in my wife' pressure sores. Her pain attacks seem much less severe and fewer and fewer.
I am 69 years old and have a graduate degree in Banking and Finance from Rutgers. I am a retired Bank CEO. I am not a nut case. I have always attended church, but I have been less than a dedicated Christian. But I am convinced that the young man was a very, very special person with a message to me straight from heaven. I call that an "Angel."
