Knowing an Angel

Would you know an angel,
If one appeared to you?
Do they all have wings,
And eyes the deepest blue?
Would you know an angel,
By the glow around their head?
And is it true we sometimes go,
Where even they're afraid to tread?
Would you know an angel,
If it was right in front of you?
For I have seen an angel,
In my heart I know its true.
I have seen an angel,
And it didn't have two wings.
It didn't have eyes of blue,
Or those other things.
I have seen an angel,
It stood right in front of me.
I touched her face and kissed her lips,
But knew, it was not meant to be.
I have known an angel,
And had heaven here on earth.
And if I died tomorrow,
I would not regret my birth.
So search for your angel,
But don't be fooled by what you see.
An angel may have deep blue eyes,
Or look a lot like me.
